The natural and cultural resources maintained at Myakka River State Park are important to the identity of Sarasota and southwest Florida.

Natural resource maintenance includes activities that perpetuate plant and animal biodiversity such as prescribed fire and pest plant management. The Friends help fund procurement of equipment necessary to continue these activities.

Cultural resources at Myakka include historic structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the Great Depression era and relics of the Florida cattle industry. The friends help fund maintenance and upgrades of these historic structures so that you and your family can continue enjoying them.
